Hey friends,
In my last blog I have spoken about my visit to sabarmati Ashram which was very much liked by u people. Today I'm going to tell u about another beautiful place that is Adalaj stepwell which is 15km away from sabarmati Ashram.
The Adalaj stepwell was built in 1498 by Rana Veer Singh (the Vaghela dynasty of Dandai Des), for his wife Queen Ruddadevi as she demanded for her during her marriage proposal. But before completing the stepwell the king was killed during the war by muslim king Mahmud Begada of neighbourinv state whjch was later built in Indo-Islamic architectural style in 1499.
When we entered this place it was quite crowded with people. The Adalaj stepwell is five stories deep, and is built using sandstone. The whole structure has several carved pillars, beams and arches that are beautifully designed. The air and light vents are placed in such a way that the sunlight does not fall on the steps. There are depictions of several daily events carved on the walls and pillars of the stepwell.we almost spend more then 2 hours by sitting there and clicking photos it was as cool as A/C.
